Disney Explorers Lodge | Hong Kong Disneyland
Disney Explorers Lodge in Hong Kong Disneyland is our most favorite Disney resort in the world. Here is everything you need to know about the hotel.
Table of Contents
Overview
Disney Explorers Lodge is the newest Hong Kong Disneyland resort hotel dedicated to the spirit of exploration. There are 750 rooms in the hotel, and they are furnished according to the four unique tropical climates of Asia, Oceania, South America and Africa.
Up until our Hong Kong Disneyland visit, our favorite Disney resort was a tie between Animal Kingdom Lodge at Disney World and Aulani. Explorers Lodge is a combination of both: it has stunning water views as Aulani, and its style and theming are very similar to Animal Kingdom Lodge.
In fact, Explorers Lodge looks so similar to Animal Kingdom Lodge that I found myself looking out of the resort’s windows, expecting to see a giraffe walking by.
Location
The resort is located on Lantau Island, in very close proximity to the Disneyland park.

Getting to the hotel from the airport
While you can take the public transportation to the hotel, the easiest way is to take taxi. It is about 15 minutes away from the airport. Just follow the signs to Lantau (blue) taxis at the airport.
When traveling, it is always a good idea to have an address of a hotel you are heading to in the local language.
I had a hard time finding the address of the Explorers Lodge in Chinese before our trip. Luckily, I had some time while we were waiting for the taxi, and it was very easy to get it once my phone recognized that we were in Hong Kong. And good thing we got the address in Chinese as the taxi driver did not speak any English.
Here is the screenshot of the address if you need it:
Getting from the hotel to Disneyland
There is a complimentary shuttle service available between Disney Explorers Lodge and the Hong Kong Disneyland Park. Departing every 10 to 20 minutes depending on the time of day, the shuttle can be picked up in front of the hotel to the right of the main lobby.
Or you can easily walk to the park. This is what we did, and we enjoyed our walks tremendously. Walk along the Promenade to Disneyland Hotel is less than 10 minutes, and then it takes about 15 minutes to walk from Disneyland Hotel to the park.

There are three room types:
- Standard (1st floor, views of Garden or Landscape)

We stayed in a deluxe room as we took advantage of the free upgrade from standard to a deluxe promo on the official Hong Kong Disneyland website.
Gardens & Pool
There are four uniquely themed gardens that flank the four wings of the hotel: Kevin Garden, the South American garden; Little Squirt Garden, the Oceania garden; Hathi Jr. Garden the Asian garden and the Rafiki Garden, the African Savannah garden.
The pool is beautifully landscaped, and it has a great view of the South China Sea, but it is on a smaller side.
Dining
There are three restaurants in the resort:
Chart Room Cafe
Chart Room Cafe is a quick service location. It offers a small grab-n-go section, specialty coffees and casual fast food from Continental breakfasts, salads and sandwiches to made-to-order pastas.
See the current menu here.
Dragon Wind
Dragon Wind is a sit-down restaurant where you can dine on signature delights from rural and classical Provincial China. See the full menu here.
It also offers a character breakfast. This was the breakfast we have EVER had. It was so good it deserves a separate post (coming soon).
World of Color
Another sit down restaurant. It serves pizzas, soups, salads, light western cuisine, a variety of vegetarian dishes in addition to popular curry dishes and light Asian cuisine, and other favorites all freshly cooked from the open kitchen.
See the full menu here.
Just like the Dragon Wind, it offers a buffet-style character breakfast.
