Hard Rock Universal Resort Overview
Hard Rock Hotel, along with Portofino Bay and Royal Pacific, is a Premier Universal Orlando resort. Guests of Premier resorts get such exclusive benefits as free Universal Unlimited Express Pass, early theme park admission, priority restaurant seating, free resort transportation, and more.
Hard Rock is the closest hotel to the Universal Studios. Walking to the park from the hotel only takes 5-7 minutes.
Hard Rock is also the most expensive Universal resort. The standard room rate in the low season starts around $450 a night, but it most often goes for $700+. The club level room will cost you an additional $150-200/night.
Rock Royalty Lounge Overview
The Rock Royalty Lounge at the Hard Rock hotel is located on the same floor as the club level rooms. You need a key card to be able to access the club level floor.
The lounge is on a small side, with clearly not enough room for everyone who is staying on the club level floor. We could not find a place to sit for either breakfast or dinner.
The lounge hours are 7am to 9pm.
Breakfast
The breakfast hours are 7am to 10am.
Breakfast options include:
- pastries & donuts
- eggs
- cereal
- oatmeal
- fruit
- toast
- juice & milk
There are also two coffee machines that can make you anything your heart desires: from mocha to latte.
Snacks
Snacks aka Afternoon Reception are offered from 12pm to 3pm.
Snack options are chips, cookies, and pretzels.
Evening Reception
Dinner refreshments are served from 5pm to 7pm.
During our stay, the refreshment choices were a salad, veggies with hummus, chips and salsa, cheese cubes, and tiny, sad and cold chicken empanadas and vegetable & cheese trumpets.
The food quality was subpar at best. It definitely didn’t match the expectations that you might have when paying over $500 a night.
There is also a selection of alcoholic beverages offered during the reception. The options are:
- Bud Light
- Corona
- Hard seltzer
- Sparkling wine
- White, red, and rose wine
The Evening Reception on the night we visited was absolute chaos. The line was stretching beyond the lounge door for the first hour, there was no place to sit, and the stuff had hard time keeping up with dirty plates. Plus, the crowd enjoying the complementary alcohol was getting rowdy. We could hear them back in our room.
Bedtime Snacks
The Bedtime Snacks are cookies and other desserts.
During our stay, it included mini cheesecakes, brownies, churros, and several varieties of cookies.
Final Thoughts
The Rock Royalty lounge at Hard Rock hotel is our least favorite club level lounge on Universal Orlando property:
- The food options ranged from mediocre to bad
- The lounge was not big enough to accommodate everyone who staying in the club rooms
- The only time we saw staff in the lounge is during the dinner, but they were not available to assist the guests as they were doing their best to keep up with the dirty plates
- All these while having the highest price tag for the club level room on the Universal property
